Block Island Race Week 2001

Sometimes you get a chance to give back a little to the sport you love, so when I was asked to help out on the Race Committee I decided to go for it.

After a nightmare of flight cancellations and delays I finally arrived in Boston (with a new free round trip ticket in hand) where Mary picked me up and we drove to Newport.

Hard to come up with any great sailing stories but I had a great time and being on the R/C is a reward in itself. The parties were great and it was a new perspective watching the mark roundings and starts and finishes. Having friends on some of the competing yachts kept it interesting as well. Below are some pix from the week's event.
